Sales suspended since July 2026
The Porto Card is the city's official tourist card. It is issued by the Associação de Turismo do Porto e Norte, the regional tourism association. The card has not been on sale since early July 2026 because the association is overhauling the product. When it will return, and in what form, is not yet known.
Below is what the Porto Card has included so far, so you can judge whether it is worth waiting for. To plan your trip in the meantime, see the sections on public transport and alternatives further down.
What the Porto Card includes
The card combines two kinds of benefits:
- Free entry to five museums.
- Discounts at 24 further museums and monuments and at more than 130 partners, up to half the admission price depending on the venue.
Altogether, the card gives you free entry to five museums and discounts at 24 further museums and monuments, eight of them at half price. You can use each discount once per partner.
Museums with free entry
With the Porto Card, entry to these five venues is free:
- Casa do Infante, part of the city museum, in the Ribeira.
- Museu do Vinho do Porto, the city's port wine museum.
- Extensão do Romantismo, part of the city museum, devoted to the Romantic era.
- Reservatório, also part of the city museum.
- Museu do Papel Moeda, the museum of paper money.
On Sundays, entry to these museums is free even without the card. If you are in Porto on a Sunday, you don't need a Porto Card for them.
Discounts at sights
At many well-known sights the card gives you a discount on standard admission:
- Torre dos Clérigos: 25% off a single ticket for the day.
- Palácio da Bolsa: 25% off the guided tour, bought at the ticket desk.
- Casa da Música: 25%.
- Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis: 50%.
- Real Companhia Velha in Vila Nova de Gaia: 50% off the museum of the first Douro demarcation in its wine cellars.
- Serralves: 20%.
What else to expect there and at the other sights is covered on the What to see in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia pages.
Validity periods and rules
The card comes in 24-, 48-, 72- and 96-hour versions. The hours run consecutively, so you can't pick individual days. The clock starts when you first use it.
The Porto Card is personal and non-transferable. There is one price for all ages, with no separate child rate. In Porto it was sold at the airport, at the Porto Welcome Center and at the Trindade tourist office. Cards bought online were collected from the tourist offices at the airport and by the cathedral.
Public transport and alternatives
Public transport is not included in the Porto Card. For the metro, city buses and suburban trains you need an Andante ticket. For one to three days with lots of journeys, the Andante Tour, valid across the whole network, is a good fit. Which ticket suits which plan is explained on the Public transport in Porto page.
Until the Porto Card is back on sale, you pay for each admission separately. Visit the five museums above on a Sunday, and expect to pay standard admission at the big sights such as the Torre dos Clérigos or the Palácio da Bolsa.
